Another point to consider is something other than your mattress causing back pain. Your pillow can be a concern, and frequently we find sleepers reporting not changing their pillows for more than 3 years. It is recommended to change your pillow every 1 to 2 years as over time your pillow becomes less supportive as filling becomes compressed. Owning the right pillow for the right type of sleeping position is equally important.
